Our GHG Management and Carbon Accounting Services

Brochures

Are you aware of carbon risk to your business? Do you know the carbon foot-print of your business? Have you realized how a carbon constraint world around you will affect your business in a near to a long-term future? Do you understand what will be the direct and indirect cost of carbon to your supply chain, feed stocks, raw materials, energy needs, and product deliveries in the emerging carbon constraint market? Have you considered how your customers will react to high carbon intensity products and services if your competitors can provide lower carbon intensity alternatives? Can you envision a carbon cost of your business which can increase by manifolds with time as the federal government regulates carbon emissions to meet the US commitment to GHG reduction targets? If you do not know the answers yet, you should rush to find the answers to these questions in order to minimize the carbon risk to your business and prepare for an emerging carbon constraint economy.

Carbon constraints may start affecting your business as early as 2010. The US EPA GHG Mandatory Reporting rule will require your business to submit GHG emission reports of your facilities if those exceed the reporting threshold of 25,000 metric tons. The final Bill H.R.2454 is anticipated to be passed by the US Senate before the end of 2009 that may enact the carbon cap and trade regulation by 2012. This will require businesses to meet GHG emission cap by reducing GHG emissions or by purchasing carbon offset credits. Senior management should consider these points while planning for business risk mitigation. We can assist you with:

  • Determine carbon footprint of your business
  • Screen your facilities for EPA GHG mandatory reporting
  • Compile GHG inventory for EPA GHG Mandatory Reporting
  • Compile GHG Inventory for The Climate/California Registry
  • Develop GHG Management Plans and Strategies

At Polar Design Studio, we have extensive experience of developing GHG management program including internet based GHG EMIS designed and built as a customized tool which meets your needs and compiles, maintains, and tracks GHG emission of hundreds of facilities across the nation and globally. This highly powerful and flexible internet based GHG Management Information System for your facilities will save hundreds of workhours every year and will provide consistent data that comply with GHG Accounting and Reporting Principle.

We can help you in implementing GHG Management, GHG EMIS and carbon accounting system:

  • Identify GHG sources, screen EPA GHG threshold and compile GHG inventory for EPA reporting
  • For TCR/California registries, define GHG system boundary, identify sources and compile inventory
  • GHG direct (Scope1) for stationary, mobile, fugitive and process emission
  • GHG direct (Scope1) for sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and refrigerants (HCF/PFC) emissions
  • GHG indirect (Scope2) for grid electricity and steam, cooling & hot water emissions
  • Develop GHG Plan and GHG verification process
  • Develop and implement GHG EMIS for GHG management
  • Enhance GHG EMIS for multiple-protocols: EPA GHG, TCR, EPA Climate Leader, Chicago Climate Exchange
  • GHG Allowance tracking (aalocation & purchase) and carbon accounting
  • Develop GHG compliance and reduction strategies
  • Help develop carbon offset projects
  • Help develop renewable energy projects: solar, wind, biogas, biomass and other Distributed Generation (DG)
  • Set EMIS for renewable energy projects tracking for renewable energy credit (REC) and carbon offset credit tracking for carbon offset projects

Our designed and implemented GHG EMIS systems are successfully managing GHG inventory compilation and reporting as per TCR, IPCC/WRI/WBCSD and California GHG Registry protocols and generating reports on forms such as EPA Climate Leader, Chicago Climate Exchange and so forth.
